Poultney

Posted on August 11, 2021

Poultney is basically a square parcel of land with a large slice taken off the southeast corner. Poultney encompasses a large part of Lake St. Catherine which is the 10th largest in state lake in Vt.

Rt 30 runs north to south along the western edge. In town, Rt. 140 starts or ends at Rt 30 and runs east to west. At that same intersection Rt 31 begins or ends and runs north to south into Ny.

We Drive through Poultney on our way to Chuck n Sue’s house in Wells. Took picture of town sign. We have camped at Lake Saint Catherine as a photo intern. We visited for the day with mom and had a bbq while staying at a B&B in Benson

4/26/21 We ate at Taps Tavern. Great mac n Cheese!. We have eaten there a couple of times since. It now has a new name and management.

4/27/2021 We rode our bikes on the D&H Rail Trail to Castleton and back. Nice trail through the slate quarries and rural lands.

7/6/2023 We rode horses at Pond Hill Ranch while camping at Lake Bomoseen and visiting Chuck n Sue.. it was the first time on a horse in close to 20 years. The trail ride was excellent. We were with another couple from Minnesota.  A nice view from the top. They also have pro rodeos there. We hope to go someday. The address says Castleton but the map says Poultney.
