Special Guest Presenter: Laura Trieschmann, State Historic Preservation Officer
Laura V. Trieschmann serves as the State Historic Preservation Officer. She was appointed by Governor Shumlin in 2013 and reappointed by Governor Scott in 2017. Ms. Trieschmann has an historic preservation bachelor’s degree and interior design bachelor’s degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She received her Master of Science in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania. Her primary focus as a professional preservation consultant for 23 years was architectural history, surveying more than 35,000 buildings and preparing over 100 National Register nominations in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. She moved to Burlington in 2013, living in a house dating from 1889. As a Vermonter, she is focused on stewardship of our built environment to ensure historic buildings can continue to be occupied.
