Along the Massachusetts border

Rt 9 east to Rt 8 to Rt 100, back to Rt 9.

Stamford is a pretty town, off by itself, just before Rt 8 passes into Massachusetts. We enjoyed the twisting, up-and-down drive on Rt 100 eastbound from Readsboro through Whitingham (who knew Brigham Young was born in Vermont!), skirting along the south end of Harriman reservoir and turning north to Wilmington. We’ve been to Wilmington before, so we stopped only to have lunch at Dot’s.  We plan to be back later this summer for the flea market. Heading home on Rt 9 we missed the Searsburg sign, but we’ll be able to get that another time.

All in all, a pleasant drive through a part of the state neither of us had visited before.
