Bill and I stopped here on the way back from Brattleboro. We drove up to the Hartness House , built by James Hartness, governor of VT, in 1904. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places. His daughter Helen Hartness Flanders married Ralph Flanders, a senator from Vermont, and was born in Vermont. She was well known for collecting folk music.
