Brighton

  • Been through here several times. Hiked Brighton in the winter with Ann before we were married. Camped with Ann n David. Entered a sand castle contest. Ann n David made a toilet, stating that “every castle needs a throne”. The rangers ( who were Christians ) stopped by our site and gave him a goodie bag and honorable mention. On this trip we stopped at Kingdom Grille, after a long trip back from Lewis Pond. The waitress and cooks kept the grill open and served us, even though they were closing up for the night. Everyone in this town is so friendly. This place is hopping during the winter with snow machines.

We have been trying to camp with Mike n Kimberly for several years. We finally put it in the calendar and chose Brighton State Park as our campground.  Ann n I ate at the Essex Inn while we waited for them to arrive.  Mike n Kim caught up to us while we were checking out some of the town’s shops.  A little weird!

We had seperate leantoos that were side by side. The weather was iffy so we never set our kayaks in the water. We did go for a walk around the park, played the card game Sequence, and went to Catholic mass with them in town.

Mike n Kim brought most of the food, so we did a lot of the cooking, especially breakfast. It was some of the best food and fellowship we have ever had camping. the time was too short. We deposited a 251 rock in our leanto.
