The last day of our trip to Cavendish, we drove up Route 106 to Woodstock, had breakfast, then drove Route 4 to Bridgewater Corners. Took a picture of the post office there. We also drove up the town center road to what I assume was the old town center. There was evidence of flooding there either from this past July or July 2023 floods.
The AT passes through the northern part of the town before entering a corner of Woodstock then Pomfret and Helen and I will be hiking this in August (with any luck).
8/28/24: we hiked through the northern section of Bridgewater on the AT and passed the Lookout hut (privately owned) which has a ladder leading to the roof where there is a great view of the surrounding area. No one else was there at the time. We spent the night at the Winturri shelter and the next day hiked to Route 12 in the northwestern corner of Woodstock.
